Studio Brief 01 - Poster Design (Thornville Haus)

At the start of this year when we all moved into our house for second year we decided that we should create a poster series which the whole house could contribute to. The idea to begin with was that we would create posters that have the basic concept of the house and base a design from things that had happened during our residence at the house.

So that people could see the work we thought the best idea would be to create an Instagram account for the work, as the whole house are designers we named the page
"Thornville Haus" as we liked the idea of playing on the famous Bauhaus movement. Over the next 2 months we posted about once a week with the design that we had all chosen to post but sadly we left the page and stopped posting, not to say that we stopped making posters though. Although now we not post on that page, we have been talking between us and we think that we could use the page to post different poster designs that we have been doing over the last 9 months.

Although I haven't been producing posters for this particular page I have been creating random art work just for fun. I find that if I take 30 mins out what I have been doing and design a poster or a piece of quick art work then I allows me to think more creatively about my other work that I am doing as I would maybe do things that I haven't thought about once I have been able to do random art work. From now onwards I am going to be design small pieces of work like this to help me build up art works which I can use to start posting online so people can start to notice who I am and what I am doing. Throughout next year I want to produce different posters series along side friends and independently.
