Studio Brief 01 - The Hepworth Prize for Sculpture - Opening Night

There are many creative events in and around the Leeds area that are nationally recognised by many respected designers and other creatives. More specifically I am talking about the Hepworth Prize for Sculpture's opening night which I intended out of interest as the advertising was very intriguing. The award recognises a British or UK-based artist of any age, at any stage in their career, who has made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary sculpture. This was all very interesting and there were many people there everyone getting a good look at all of the wonderful sculptures but we myself and Luke were interested in most was the branding done for the event.

The branding was done by a Leeds based design studio known as Passport, who are also alumni of LCA, so it was very interesting to look at there work from where I am now and see what is done at industry level compared to what I am working at now. The branding project as a whole worked very well along side the architecture of the building and the wayfinding parts inside where seem less and not to over the top like you may find in some exhibitions, there was the right amount of directions and credits to read. This has also inspired me to start looking and branding and wayfinding briefs in OUGD503 as it is something that I want to experiment more with this year.
